Plasterers
Dave Hines
Dave Hines is a Plasterer and his work can be seen in Hankelow Chapel.
Dave's phone numbers are 01270-811648 and 07805-040687. He writes :-
Born in Sussex about the same time as Jesus. Now entering my
forty-third year as a Plasterer. Two years in Germany, and over the
years have had the privilege of working in wonderful houses like
Bettisfield Hall, Moss Hall, Hawkstone Hall and many manor houses. Even
on the restoration of a mud hut. Although plastering is not so much of
a passion any more, it is a way of earning a living. I get a lot of
pleasure from giving advice to genuine people. I became inspired with
plasterwork long before I left school when one day I was given a day
off school and bundled into an old Standard van stinking of leather and
petrol. Yes, I was off to work with me Dad and I thought how boring is
this going to be. Until I got there. Not a bad house, this, is it Dad ?
Waddesdon Manor, home of the Rothschilds in Buckinghamshire. There, I
would watch him running fine moulds on ceilings when the manor was
altered in the mid-fifties. I was hooked.

Nursery
SpecialPerennials.com
Martin Blow writes :-
We are Janet and Martin of Yew Tree House, Hall Lane. Under the name SpecialPerennials.com we
grow plants selling at plant fairs, farmers' markets and by mail order. We can also offer a
border design service helping you choose the rights plants for your garden.
SpecialPerennials.com has really taken off this year and we have travelled far and wide
selling plants at shows including Arley Summer Festival, Chatsworth and many regional
plant society fairs. We recently won a Silver Medal for our display at the Gardening
Show at the Royal International Pavilion, Llangollen.
We grow a large variety of (mainly hardy) herbaceous perennials including garden
favourites and many unusual and hard to find varieties you won't find at the garden
centre. All our plants are home grown being tried out first in our own gardens and
we are always happy to offer advice.
We have a particular passion for Hemerocallis (Day Lily) with over 300 varieties and
Helenium, over 70 varieties which represents more than 80% of those available anywhere
in Britain. We aim to apply for National Plant Collection status for Heleniums early
next year. This means we have a collection of national significance in terms of the
number of varieties we grow and standards of cultivation we apply.
This year we have been busy replanting our beds and borders with the aim of attaining
a high enough standard for the National Gardens Scheme (Yellow Book). In a couple of
years time we hope to be raising lots of money for Cancer Charities from opening the
garden.
Our website has lots of information and pictures taken in our garden. Browse our plants
at SpecialPerennials.com or feel free
to drop by and have a look. Please let all your gardening friends know!
